This weekend, I fell down the rabbit hole of Chinese dramas. After finishing up Shan Shan Come To Eat (or Boss and Me), it was about one a.m., and like any good drama fan, it wasn’t “Oh, I should go to bed” it was more “what should I watch next?”

For the last few weeks, in our chat feed, Molly and Amber Kmuse have been going on about the drama Cruel Romance and, on a lark, I gave it a try.

I am happy to report, it is the crackiest, wackiest, ‘is this show for real?’ time I’ve had in a long time. Watching the first few episodes, I entertained the ladies with a running commentary—we had such a fun time I thought I’d share it with you!*

*Ahem. Just keep in mind, it was very late, I was a little punchy, and possibly a little swear-y.

Finish Your Plate!

The struggle continues. With the new commute, and change of schedule I’m trying very hard to get dramas in. I’ve found the trick to actually getting drama into my life? Is actually the commute itself!

In preparation for the change, I bought a tablet and I learned a very interesting factoid about tablets—it can be used for more than just reading fanfiction! (Imagine that.) Yes, by putting actual shows on my tablet, I will actually sit there on the trains and watch more dramas.

But now it’s time to figure out what to watch! I finished the LGBT Thai drama Make It Right (eh), I finished the Chinese drama Love O2O (by the end I was eh as well) and now I’m finishing Bromance. Turns out there was a theme there. Finishing dramas I always meant to go back to. You know, the ones which linger there for some reason abandoned?

So, I’ve decided to just push through, continue on and see just how many dramas I can knock off my list. This works for me for several reasons. Read more

We’re back did you miss us? We missed you! Or at least Cherry did. Stephanie was watching too much drama to think about it. (That’s why Cherry is the nice one.) We’re talking comeback news, concert tours, solo efforts before hitting what we’ve been watching during our time away with the likes of W, Moonlight Drawn by Clouds, Five Children, Love O2O, and Make It Right.

After a few weeks of special episodes, we’re back to just us! It feels weird. Is it weird? We’re hopping right back in, talking about dramas we’re watching, like Another Miss Oh, announcing Stephanie’s KCON NY-adjacent panels, talk meetups, Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wook, Heechul! Heechul! Heechul! and we, of course, have to talk about #burgerpartyforjungkook. We’re back in the k-saddle again!

Top 5 Drama I Always Meant To Go Back To

Posted by Stephanie on December 11, 2015

Top Five

dramasWe all have them. Dramas you always, with the best intentions, meant to go back to finish. You know the ones, the dramas that you’re enjoying pretty well (because, let’s admit it, if you loved them, you really would have gone back to them) but life got in the way, as it always does, and you had to stop watching. You of course tell yourself, after this one more task I’ll finish. Just one more thing and I’ll sit back down.

But then life happens, or more importantly, more dramas happen, and you never actually sit back down to them.

As the end of the year rolls in, and year end posts keep revealing their ugly heads, we’re reminded of all these ghosts of dramas past. So here is my list of Top 5 dramas I always had meant to go back to watch. Read more

Now that KCon is done, we’re getting back to our regularly scheduled programming—talking about Kdrama! In this episode, Stephanie is a little punchy, Cherry can’t stop laughing, and we talk about newsy things like, ugh, Ghost Seeing Detective, Soompi canceling their premium program, Super Junior and the Teen Choice awards, we answer some listener questions, and finally, we ponder the time-old did-not-finish list, talking about why we drop some shows and whether you should go back again.

Whew, with all the changes to the schedule, we didn’t think we were going to make this one on time! But by the power of GDragon we have made it. In this episode we talk about ice cream, Top Gear, and Stephanie’s new AC. Oh, and in drama-related topics we chatter about what dramas we’re watching, new and upcoming dramas to consider adding to our lists, randomly newsy stuff, and then a listener question where we talk about whether the sound of the a language itself can drive you from a drama. **Alert, we get a little spoilery about Lovesick, so if you haven’t watched up to episode 17—do it already!**

Holy Gdragon, this is the second week in a row we’ve managed to keep the podcast under a manageable level. I’m so proud! This week, we talk about how Cherry and Amber tricked Stephanie into either watching terrible dramas, or not watching dramas at all. We also talk about the rash of injuries in Kdramaland, the results of our BigBang ticket hunt, what we’re watching (or in Stephanie’s case, which fanfiction she’s now reading), answer a question on whether or not it is worth it to go to KCon, and then end up with a discussion whether drama-writers owe anything, story-wise, to the watchers.

In this episode, Stephanie was determined to get the podcast to a manageable length. We chat about Chinese dramas, which seems to have taken over our current drama watching, KCon updates, BigBang, comments on comments, we draw the winner for the year anniversary giveaway (thanks for entering guys!), and then we end on something a little different—Stephanie’s Ranty Corner, where she talks about DramaFever’s apparent decision to start carrying BBC programming. All in all, one of the best times we’ve had in a while!
