Throwback (Musical) Thursday

Music

On Saturday, while I was minding my own business and doing my own thing…not really, I was galavanting with Stephanie…one sweet Alix sent me a flurry of texts about her discovery of 5urprise. Her intention was to do one of them for her KHottie post, but her time online devolved into a gloriously tragic YouTube hole and picture fest involving the whole group. Let’s just say, she couldn’t turn away and her heart now wishes that this were a real live idol group putting our releases on the regular. She, dare I say, begged that I cover them for Throwback (Musical) Thursday so she could focus on their appeal in her post, leaving the tunes to me.

I agreed.

Obviously.

5urprise, in case you don’t know, is a five-member group put together by Fantigo by plucking out hopefuls from their acting trainees. Rather than the typical idol turned actor scenario, the idea was to turn these talented acting lads into an idol group. They made their mark through the show After School: Lucky or Not about flower boys and a shy girl basically developing a friendship while taking on ridiculous missions through their club. I’ve seen a couple of episodes…it’s a lot.

As part of the show, the newly formed ‘idol group’ debuted on the soundtrack with Hey You, Come On. These guys are beautiful and brimming with so many talents…acting, singing, posing. They have so much friendly chemistry between them, it’s beautiful. But, these things does not an idol group make. Unfortunately, you also need good music, dancing, and support from your agency.

Hey You, Come On, 5urprise

In all honesty, I could sit and watch them all day. A chunk of my Sunday was spent on my basement couch with Alix dj’d the YouTube through their highlight reel. Each member catches your eye and holds on to you until you force yourself to be captured by someone else. But they aren’t a group that I’ll throw on the old music app for a listen. I do believe the music is for someone though…give it a shot. See what you think.

And I know Stephanie is working on making sure you can leave comments again, so give it a shot and let me know your thoughts.

From My Heart, 5urprise
