It’s been a long several weeks of travel, celebrating, and busy-ness and the weather in Colorado has, for the most part, been completely agreeable. It’s been unseasonably warm and as expected in our great state, very sunny. But today, today I woke up to freezing temps and snow. As it’s a work holiday and there is no school for the spawn, it’s kind of perfect. Today is the type of day where you want to snuggle up in a cowl-necked sweater, cradle a warm teacup between your palms, and listen to slow songs that tug at something deep in your core.
The song Somehow by the Korean singer O3ohn came out about a month ago, but I didn’t stumble across it until last Saturday (again, I’ve been very busy). As soon as it started I knew that I’d want it as my very own. It wasn’t the mood I was in at the time, in fact, I was building the playlist for the big bday party Alix and I throw annually. But I knew it was going to be something I’d need at some point. And I, as happens on a frequent basis, was right. I don’t want to brag or anything, but I’m right a lot of the time. At least when it comes to what music I’m going to glom onto with the stubbornness of a toddler.
I don’t know very much about O3ohn outside of a few songs. He’s a singer/songwriter/guitarist that to me is all clean lines, washed out colors, and heartbreaking lyrics. He’s got a voice somewhat reminiscent of Oh Hyuk, but he uses it differently. He owns it in his own way. Where Oh Hyuk makes me think and feel and want to dance, O3ohn makes me want to curl up and weep a little…but in that cleansing way. Like when the song is done, I’ll feel exhausted, but infinitely better than before it started. Maybe that’s just me. And maybe that’s mostly his song Kalt.
Kalt, O3hn (ft. Joonie)
O3hn is someone I want to know more about. There isn’t a ton of info out there yet…or I don’t know the right places to look, but I waaaaant there to be more. At least I do today. When it’s cold. And snowing. And I have tea. And a moody scene to right for the zombie fic. I may be pulling up a O3ohn playlist as the soundtrack for today.
