Throwback (Musical) Thursday – Workhorses of Kpop

Music

It finally happened. For the first time. I actually forgot that I had to put a post up today…you can tell because I’m posting like HOURS later than I usually do. I woke up from a long dream about living in a haunted house where the ghost took on the shape of my youngest daughter and I had to figure out which was which and then I panicked. Crap. I hate missing a deadline…it’s the rule follower in me. Stephanie doesn’t even care, it’s not like she’s paying me to get this up before the sun rises. She isn’t paying me at all…at least not in cash money. She’s paying me in Hobi gifs and fan fic.

Needless to say, I didn’t go into today with a plan or overarching theme I wanted to chat about. I tossed around the idea of putting up links to some of the new release from this week, but my kid vetoed it saying I should save that for Musical Monday…another rule follower. So instead, I put it out into the ether…or, you know, my chat group with KpopontheDL and Alix, and solicited some good ideas. Alix had approximately ninety-six options typed out before I even finished asking, Leila put in extremely specific ideas including links and personal observations. I love these women so hard. They get me…or more creepily, they are me.

So, in honor of one of my favorite releases of this week, I’m going to throw back to one of my favorite Block B songs of days gone by, Nillili Mambo. This is honestly one of my favorite Kpop songs of all time. It’s just good. Like really good. It’s fun and upbeat and easy to sing along with and dance to. The MV is a tiny action movie complete with horrendous hair (except P.O.’s…his is perfect), simply awful fake tattoos, gratuitous violence, an eyepatch, and a chicken. Does it get any better? Ever?

So there, I didn’t miss today, you got a perfect song, and I can go back to figuring out what that dream meant.

I promise to do better in the future.

BlockB, Nillili Mambo

    A solid choice.

I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Block B and for PO. (Except his last release, which I can’t listen to because it pays too much homage to Bruno Mars…in that I would think it is Bruno singing in Korean)

BTW. I love Block B’s new release! And there are some interesting hair choices?!?

Nillili Mambo has always been my favorite Block B song – I never skip it when it comes up on my kpop playlist. When “Shall We Dance” came out, the first thing I thought was that I liked it because it was more like NM than any of their other songs. And you’re right Spice Angel, I think the MV is worth watching for the hair alone!
