Jhottie of the Week: Miyavi

Khottie of the Week

Ready for a walk on the wild side?  I’d heard of Miyavi, and even seen a good handful of pictures, but my scope of vision has been crowded with the never ending stream of Kpop idols the last few years so I hadn’t really dug into him.  Well, Stephanie is going to see him in concert and she sent me a gif.

My hairdresser was looking over my shoulder when I pulled it up on my phone.  She made a little strangled “Oh!” sound.  I live in the South.

Its a good thing I didn’t show her this one.  She’d have thrown holy water on my phone or something.

Anyway,  Miyavi, or Ishihara Takamasa, is a Japanese singer-songwriter, guitarist, record producer, and actor.

He was in the visual kei rock band, Dué le Quartz, and then ventured out as a solo artist.

He’s famous for the finger slapping guitar playing style he has.  I think its fantastic.  Really interesting.

Those of you who know the manga/anime Tokyo Ghoul should recognize this.  Miyavi was the inspiration for the character Uta.

In 2014, Miyavi appeared in the motion picture, Unbroken, directed by Angelina Jolie.

As you can see,  searching for pictures of J-Rock and J-Pop idols results in a very different image set than with Kpop.

He’s rather ridiculously beautiful.

And looks amazing in just about every look he wants to rock.

I hope you’re enjoying the change of pace as much as I am!

Its been fun looking outside the Korean entertainment realm.  If you have suggestions for more Japanese, Chinese, Thai, or other Asian entertainment hotties that you think are worth covering, let me know in the comments.

I’m out of town for a couple of weeks and I’ll be leaving you in Stephanie’s capable hands.  See you when I get back!

*Speechless* Also. Should I apologize to you for your hairdresser now?
