Hello my loves! Corinne reminded me, with her contribution of Raina to last week’s Khottie, that I haven’t highlighted any women lately. So while thinking about that, I remembered that I promised to cover several of the gorgeous, powerful, female rappers that the Korean music scene has provided us. The same rules apply for my selection of the lady artists as did with the gentlemen – They can’t be part of a group. They have to be solo, part of a duo, or crew. And I have to find them hot. So, in no particular order, let’s get to it.
Cheska, is Korean-American, and the former lead rapper of FIESTAR. She left the group in 2014 due to personal reasons.
She just released a new single that I think is a pretty interesting listen.
Kisum is on the opposite end of the spectrum concept-wise and is more lighthearted. She has the chops though – she’s held her own on both Unpretty Rapstar and Show Me the Money.
I want to be this girl’s friend. She just seems like so much fun.
Cheetah. She is possibly the coolest person ever. I love her. I crank up Your Number every time it comes up on my playlist.
Cheetah only features on this song, but I love it so much and her part in it. She looks a-mazing. Enjoy.
KittiB came in second place on Unpretty Rapstar. She does a lot of interesting stuff and I adore her voice.
She swings from fun to intense. This video and song are on the intense end of the spectrum (heads up if you’re triggered by abuse) and absolutely worth the watch.
Yoon Mi-rae is an amazing American-born rapper and singer. She is a member of MFBTY, but does a lot of her own work as well.
I’m honestly not sure how I feel about this recent single. Its a little boring? Your milage may vary. But she sounds fantastic.
I have this long list of new artists that I discovered while working up this post, but I need to do more research and try to scrape up good versions of some of their songs. So, expect a Part 2! I think that this is it for now. See you all next week!
