Perils of a Fangirl

blakeWaaaaaaahhhh! Let me just say, I am very upset right now. I’d capitalize very but I’d be worried you’d become concerned over how upset I am — I’m the average, normal person amount of upset right now. So what has got me in a tizzy?

Let me tell you a story about a boy named Blake…

Or, to be more specific, his youtube channel.

This post was originally going to be about one of my new favorite things, a teenie tiny Chinese Web drama called We Are Not Human which is a series of 2-minute episodes telling the tale of a friendship between a vampire and a zombie. It’s bite-sized, it’s ridiculous, it’s completely adorable.

I subscribe to a channel called Blake which is usually my go-to source for Chinese gay subs. (The dramas and movies are gay, not the subs themselves.) I got hooked on Blake way back with Heroin, when he was one of the only people subbing it. He also got his start with the series but had, since then, gone on and expanded titles and even stepped a few toes out of the LGBT genre.

I’m guessing you can see where this is going…

So, last night he posted ep 5 of We Are Not Human where we learned that the dog the vampire adopted in episode 4 is not the mild mannered dog we all assumed he was, but instead was a vampire hunter in disguise. (Yes, this is how ridiculously adorable this show is.) It reminded me, oh yeah, I must spread the word about this and do a post! So, I went this morning to make a playlist…and they were all gone. His channel was shut down.

Waaaaaahhhhhh.

How am I ever going to know if these two crazy immortals will get together? Will the attack cat succeed where the dog failed? Will Zombie ever get his winter pants?

This happens all the time out there. It is not some new and unexpected story. As drama fans, unfortunately, the likelihood of this happening is just something we have to accept. We’d all love to watch legally. We’d all like to be assured something we begin will not be abandoned by the subber partway through. We’d all like to get the best quality subs and videos we can (ugh chunks of video and being at the mercy of uploaders and their need to decide what we do and do not need to see burns my left butt-cheek). However, with this sort or programming especially if one has even more niche interests such as LGBT, there is very little options out there for us.

It’s frustrating.

But, as I said, this isn’t anything us within the fandom haven’t experienced before. And unfortunately for us, it will continue to happen until we either get a new hobby or get jacked into the matrix and are suddenly able to speak alllllll of the languages. However, knowing this? Doesn’t make it any easier to deal with when it happens. Not that I want to promote bad behavior, but I hope that Blake will be able to come back again in some form or another. I hope if that happens I’ll be able to find him. I hope that someday, hopefully someday soon, there will be a time that zombies and vampires can come together and get their BL on in peace.

P.S. We Are Not Human is so obscure that I was unable to find a photo of it to show you.
P.P.S. Do yourself a favor and do not type We Are Not Human Chinese Drama into Google, it’s not pretty.
