Looks like Bae Doona took a big pass on the drama she was offered. While I was excited to see her in the show, turns out, just because she’s said “umm…maybe not” it doesn’t mean the show has been rendered unwatchable. Nope. Now that more information is out I want to see this show now more than ever. (Sorry Doona) Why?
Let us count the ways.
- It’s a thriller. Did you hear? Thrillers are exciting!
- Jang Hyuk! Didn’t you hear? Jang Hyuk is exciting! I’m a big Jang Hyuk fan and if you’ve seen the older drama, Thank You, you’ll know what I’m talking about. Although, I’m probably one of the worst Jang Hyuk fans out there as his newer stuff? Get’s a big Eh from me. (Unless Please Teach Me English is after, that movie is adorable.) However, this is why I’m excited to see him in a thriller. If it could be a romantic thriller? Even better! (Why these people don’t consult me, I’ll never know.)
- The premise. Not about some prison guards as I originally thought but instead a detective and a 911 operator. (Or the Korean equivalent thereof.) 911 operator with the requisite tragic past somehow gets roped into crime solving with said Jang Hunky detective. Yeah, this sounds like a creepy sort of show that could have easily been a movie being put together by a cable network who can properly pull off the tone and scope of a project like this.
With all these reasons, this show has definitely earned itself a place on my “Hey maybe you’ll check this out but never actually will” list.
It is an impressive list.
