This is the first week I’m covering somebody who is purely an actor! Woo! I’m not sure why that is, exactly. I think I spend more time swimming around in the Kpop pool? Or maybe because I only discovered Kdramas about a year ago, and I’m a binger. I find an actor I like and then I watch everything they are in, so that narrows my scope a little.
Anyway… Guess who my new obsession is? You’ve caught me on the leading edge of my binge. I’ve actually only seen him in Lucky Romance so far.
Though I have seen many a screen cap and gif set from Reply 1988. Don’t worry! R88 is next in the queue! Anybody want to watch it with me?
So, I discover RJY and his fascinating, gorgeous face that I can watch for hours, and I start doing research on him. And what do I read? That some people think he’s ugly!
I don’t understand!
Look how pretty he is!
Those of you who have watched him know. His face is so expressive. I’m always impressed by the way he lets you see his inner thoughts just by the slight shift of his features. This is a silly one, but it demonstrates how mobile his face is.
I love this look on him in No Tomorrow, where he plays a villain. I’m guessing that colored streak signifies his evil.
I’m really tempted to watch One Way Trip/Glory Day, but I suspect I may too sensitive for that one.
For those who haven’t heard about it, it appears to be in the genre of “We were all happy and innocent, and then bad shit happened.” It also stars Ji Soo and Suho, which is roughly equivalent to adding whipped cream and sprinkles for me. Has anybody seen it? How broken will my heart be?
I read in an interview that he’ll be playing a gangster in an upcoming movie called The King. I’m really curious to see him in that after watching him be funny and cute in Reply 1988 and Lucky Romance.
He has several movies in the works and just waiting to be released. Join me in supporting Ryu Jun Yeol and his pretty, expressive face in all his upcoming movies!
