One of the crazy things I noticed about idols when I first got into Kpop is that they rarely look their age. The most mature looking in the group is likely the youngest, and the baby-faced one is probably the oldest. It’s very confusing! This is the case with Kim Minseok, also known as Xiumin, dancer and vocalist for EXO, who clocks in at 26 years old despite what his face tries to tell you.
In a universe of beautiful eyes, Xiumin’s are exceptional. Nobody does eye makeup like he does. I’m kind of jealous. He could have another life as a drag queen if this idol thing doesn’t work out for him.
But don’t be fooled! He is most certainly thinking naughty thoughts.
I was lucky enough to see him in concert on the Exo’luxion tour this Spring. He ran around the entire time, covering twice the stage the rest of the members did (except maybe Chanyeol), interacting with the audience, and being outrageously cute and sexy the entire time. It was hard to take your eyes off of him.
I heard (because the internet exploded) that a few tour dates after ours, there was “The Great Xiumin Ab Unveiling of 2016.” We were all impressed. Veeery impressed.
If that does it for you, this is absolutely worth watching.
Xiu gives you the feeling that even though he acts like a creature of light and magic, he’s not really one of the good fairies.
This is my favorite picture of him. I have no witty comment to go with it. Let’s just sit here and stare at it for a little bit…
Ok, what were we talking about? Oh! Right. Xiumin is also an actor. He has a movie coming out in July called “Kim Sun Dal.” Here’s one of his promo shots. Isn’t he handsome?
It’s a historical comedy about legendary con man Kim Sun Dal, who tricks the king into buying the ownerless Taedong river. Xiu plays an apprentice con-man, and I personally think the role is perfect for him. He has such an innocent face…
Until he doesn’t.
He was also recently in a web drama called “Falling for Do Jeon”. Its not very good, and has entirely too many creepy French clowns for my taste, but you get long stretches of Xiumin being adorable. It was worth it for that in my opinion. Here he is singing for the OST, which lets you hear his pretty voice and get glimpses of the show (if you’re not sure you’re willing to brave the clowns).
While we are discussing his dramas, this MV for Jin’s “Gone” is a little mini drama featuring Xiumin looking beautiful, and romantic.
Now you may want to shake your fist and me and say “Why did you do that to me?!” If I have to suffer, you have to suffer too. Ciao for now!
