Ooooh, thanks to my Nell Pandora station, I have a new indie band find! There I was sitting at Starbucks, going who is this, I like it and took note of them. Then a while later, I came across another song I like, looked again and what do you know, it’s the same band!
Well hello there, 3rd Line Butterfly, welcome to my new favorite list.
I think out of all of my indie finds, this might be the most indie-est and if you listen to the band, which is one of those very rare, gender and racially mixed groups, you’ll understand. From what I’ve found on Youtube since, they don’t have any actual music videos, but instead some well cut performance videos. I’m actually quite impressed with how far Pandora has come since I first started this Korean music adventure.
The one I chose for Musical Monday is actually the first song of theirs I heard called, appropriately considering the location from where I heard it is called Smoke Hot Coffee Refill and if you give it a chance, I do promise they eventually get to singing more than Smoke Hot Coffee Refill. The music in both tempo and sound builds and increases as the song goes on, adding more of the members voices, and then finally more lyrics. Also, once they do get to the other lyrics, I find myself really moved by the sound and depth of the lead singers voice.
All in all, it makes for a really interesting song which I can’t wait to get to get into my collection.
