It’s always good news when a favorite actor or singer accepts the Running Man challenge. Well, maybe not always good news as my good favor is bestowed on those who excel as a Running Man guest. There are those few unfortunates who go on the show, completely tank, and I’m never able to look at them the same way again. Kim Soo Hyun coming off as a complete wenie unable to accomplish the smallest task? Ew. That guy who starred in Assorted Gems being an overly competitive aggressive jerk? I can’t watch his b-lead demeanor without thinking of what lays beneath.
So the news that the latest Kchat Jjigae darling, Heechul, has been caught filming?
My initial fangirl goes on high squee alert. The loveable weirdo Heechul is still riding high on my bias list—bolstered by the face to stage high of KCon. Although, I was just talking to Cherry Cordial about Mr. Heechul just yesterday that, while I love Heechul, it is in a completely non-sexual way. More in a I want Heechul to be my gay best friend way. You know. If he were gay.
This part of my brain says, Heechul, Heechul, whoohoo, Heechul. Of course, then the other side of me thinks to myself, do I really want to take the chance that my adoration of Heechul would be tainted by a bad Running Man episode? I know he’s been on the show before, and I may have even seen one of them, however, as I’ve come to the Heechul fan-train late, I don’t think I noticed him. Poor Heechul, let’s just keep that between you and me.
This episode though, this episode sounds like it will be chock full of awesome. Why? This episode is a rival episode, where members are matched up against their rivals (anyone want to lay odds that Kwang Soo and Jong Kook will be facing each other in the challenge?) and Heechul is matched up with the leader of Super Junior, Leeteuk. Word on the street is that Heechul and Leeteuk have been long rivals—even with tales of a giant fight before a concert!
Since I’m also not a Leeteuk fan, this gives me extra reason to cheer Heechul on!
As I now watch Running Man every week with the McFeeleys, something tells me I’m going to have to buck our regular schedule (we’re still going through the back log) and will have to watch this episode as soon as it comes out. Now this gives me a few short days to turn the McFeeleys into Heechul fans (as they like it when they know who the guests are) and to get used to his UnHeechul like hair. Why Heechul, why? Your hair was your jam, man!
Anyway, are there any Running Man guests you look forward to? Or even better? A guest whose appearance on Running Man made you change your mind about them (good or bad)?
