Word has been rumbling on the street on the new drama Oh My Ghostess. Word of which I’ve been studiously trying to ignore for some reason. Is it because I already had too many dramas on my plate? Nope. That can’t be it. While I may have a lot of dramas I think I’m simulcasting, in reality I’m only doing like four of them and most, if not all, of those will be done by the time Oh My Ghostess begins.
Is it the premise? That’s probably it. The idea of a hapless heroine being possessed by the spirit of a lusty virgin ghost? Hrm, that’s awkward and leaves me a little cold. Does the heroine know she’s been taken over? Is she just imbued with the spirit of the… spirit? If that’s the case, then who falls in love with them? Will the love triangle be between the hapless heroine, the chef, and the lusty ghost?
The one thing which had me more interested was the fact that the hero is a cranky, abrasive chef. You know who I love for a hero? Cranky, abrasive chefs. (See my love of the drama Pasta and… well that’s it, but since it’s my favorite drama, it should get extra points.)
Then, today I realized that the cast is pretty stellar. Park Bo Young was pretty much the best thing that happened to Hot Young Bloods (or Hot Blooded Youth), and I’ve been looking for her to be in something else that I wanted to watch. Then Kim Seul Gi as the virgin ghost sounds awesome. While she is only a character actress, she is pretty much the best thing about a lot of the dramas she’s been in. Is it just me, or do you think its past time for her to get her own lead role? You can’t tell me that a drama which cast her in the lead would not be quirky, hilarious, and all over amazing?
Then the last cast that I’m excited for? My hero chef. I have had a heart on for Jo Jung Suk since his role in King2Hearts. I liked him so much I almost thought about watching You’re the Best Lee Soon Shin. As most of his roles have been warm, caring, upright guys, I wonder if he can pull off, and be believable as, the cranky, abrasive chef. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
All in all, while I’m not edge of my seat excited about this, at least it is now on the radar. tvN is usually good for a fun time.
So how about you? Are you excited for this drama?
