We had some fun this episode — or at least we laughed a lot. Although, how that’s different from any other episode? I’m not really sure.

Show Notes

In this episode we do lots of stuff, so just listen. Just kidding! After chatting about news, what we’re watching, and how Roommate has been letting us down of late, we answer Kdrama-related questions, which have us coming almost to blows over the epic question “Super Junior or Big Bang?” and wondering which Kdrama heroine we would most want to be. Then we move over to talking about comfort watches, dramas that are our go to’s if we are sick or just want to be cheered up.

I sent you the link to Kwang Soo’s instagram, I hope it makes you as happy as it does me every time he posts. You mentioned Danny Ahn visiting Roommate I wanted to let you know that he was also on episode 209 of Running Man. Isn’t he super good looking?

Always enjoy listening to you and Cherry. I feel like I am right there with you and sometimes even talk back!!!

Btw….I have been enjoying Angry Mom. The actor from Queen In Hyuns Man is in this drama. I did not recognize him. Also Baro from B1A4 ( who resembles Song Mino from Winner)

Very excited about BTS and I am older than you! My Husband is going to take me.

Ooh, comfort watches! My reason for watching kdramas! Used to be Coffee Prince because Gong Yoo, but as drama quality has gotten better, that’s fallen by the wayside, unfortunately. Then it was City Hunter and SKKS (I cannot spell that), and now it’s Marriage Not Dating and Let’s Eat. I can watch any of those episodes and leave with a happy smile on my face. Might add Hogu’s Love to that list; that was a ridiculously adorable drama with great supporting cast.

btw, thanks for giving us a heads up on Technicians! I was planning on watching it (KWB + Ocean’s Eleven feel? Sign me up!), but now time is precious and I’m going to pass. : ( Do miss KWB though…

This may be a boring topic, but I think it’s kind of interesting how Kdramas have seemed to evolve over time. It might just be the ones I’ve watched, but the earlier ones seem to be a lot of random, nonsensical things happening to people, one-dimensional overacting and then some requisite angst 3/4 of the way in. I feel like later ones have gotten tighter and more modern in their storytelling. Kiss scenes also seemed to regress for a few years and then lately are coming back a little more realistically. Just wondering if you guys noticed any trends? I saw a handful of dramas in 2007 that I largely forgot (except Coffee Prince) and then started seriously watching late 2013 so I haven’t really seen enough to say anything definitive.

Comfort watching? It’s either historical fantasy stuff like Bu Bu Jing Xin (sometimes called Startling By Each Step) with – gasp – lots and lots of princes to choose from or silly high school stuff like Monstar or Shut Up Flower Boy Band. I really, really hate characters doing hateful stuff just to gain power or money so I either fast forward that stuff or skip those tension filled ones. Modern dramas comfort watching? In time with you or Reply 1997. And sometimes, I just marathon any drama with Peter Ho. There, I’ve said it. I’m in love with Peter Ho’s nose.

(Not to leave yet another comment but . . . ) Oh, Cherry Cordial, many hours have now been wasted watching Heechul and his cat. I am feeling a little weird, though, watching a 31 yr. old man and his cat dress up like the girl from Frozen. Weird could be Kpop’s middle name.
