And for those of you who said “Isn’t it always about you?”, well you can shut the fudge up.
Throughout the years of Crazy, I’ve periodically been nominated for those random awards (or chain letters) that sweep the bloggosphere. Now, you wouldn’t know that from looking here as I’ve never actually done the post. Why? Well, it’s not that I didn’t do a little happy dance whenever I got the “You’ve been nominated” notification. It’s more the–I feel weird just talking about myself and–it would mean I’d have to make a horrible confession.
What confession you ask? What could be so horrible that it would stop me from writing a fun post about myself? Here’s the thing (and don’t think too badly on me for this): So with these awards you answer the questions put to you by the nominee, ask some of your own, and nominate various bloggers that you read for the award (hence the chain letter aspect). Here’s the truth….I don’t read other blogs.
GASP, I KNOW!
I promise it’s not because I don’t like you guys. I’d love to read what you have to say about things. I enjoy your comments and I do really feel super, super bad that this seems like a one way relationship. But here’s the thing, I’m super self-conscious about what I write. The doubt monster comes in, nips at my toes and says “Look at what that person is doing.. they are way more creative than you are.” or “Look at this post, it’s so much more well written than yours.” or “Why didn’t you think of that? Why are you even doing this?”
I know it seems like I’m kidding, but, unfortunately, it’s very true. If I read other peoples blogs, I literally can not write my own. I’ll get in my own head, my creativity will grind to a halt, and my day gets pretty dark. What can I say, I’m pretty competitive. Like SUPER competitive. So? I don’t read. I feel bad about not reading, but I’d rather feel bad and be able to write then feel bad and not be able to write. (Please don’t hate me.)
So why am I doing this now after all this time? Well, since the original Crazy got shut down and people cared enough to find me again to keep reading, and then nominate me for these things again (especially Apqaria who wrote the sweetest thing ever on her blog when she nominated me–MWAH!) my heart got all gushy and I wanted to take part. (And figured if you found me again, you’re true friends who would understand and overlook my neuroses)
So let’s get this started! First round of questions is from Apqaria at the Crush on Da-hae blog:
Do you have a habit that you would like to quit?
Complex carbohydrates? My need to freak out and agonize over everything? My codependency on diet soda? Sooo many things…
When was the last time you had a blogging slump and how you got out of it?
Hmm… well of course, that would probably be now. Having Crazy for Kdrama taken away in the blink of an eye was a bit of a shocker. It’s hard to get back up on the horse, put your time and energy into something that can be gone the next day. But hasn’t been my first slump and it won’t be my last. There is a writing term which I think applies here– BICFOK: Butt In Chair, Fingers On Keyboard. You just gotta keep going on until you work your issues out. Eventually the muse will come back to you.
Do you think you have a strong memory? and is there a certain memory you want to erase?
So many! With my obsessive personality many a memory are bright and shiny pennies in my brain. However today? It’s the anniversary of my trip to Ireland. The first day was horrendous, I was elected to drive the car and within the first hour I got into a car accident, Sue fell head first into a lake, the innkeeper wouldn’t let us in early so she could change. It was cold, it was damp, and after 24 hours of travel I was exhausted and my thought was “I want to go home.” But the next morning I was up before the sun, just me and my camera and took the most beautiful photographs ever. (Well, besides the ones of GDragon and Lee Seung Gi.) From that moment the vacation turned around and it’s like the vacation gods smiled down upon us. I always thought I’d go back but then, life happens, you get a Kdrama obsession, and realize your new vacation goal is Korea.
A memory I would want to erase? Hmm… what can I share here? The time I had a tick in my ear for 3 days? Watching The Technicians? Trying greek yogurt? Honestly though? This Christmas season was terrible. I found a lump in my breast and my cardiologist found something ‘troubling’. 3 months and lots of tests later, everything is all good, but it was a scary, scary lonely time. If there were something that could magically remove that time from my brain, I wouldn’t say no. And if that memory could be replaced with something else, I’m pretty creative, I’m sure I could come up with something in a pinch…..oh JunSUUUU…
Do you like excising? And do you do that on regular basis?
I might not look it, but I actually do like working out. And if I’m working out I like it to be high impact, if I don’t sweat a lot then what’s the freaking point? On a regular basis, I walk a lot (a byproduct of living in NY).
What is the most thing you appreciate about your character or yourself in general?
My sense of humor? You can get through a lot if you can just make yourself or those around you laugh.
What is your favorite drama and movie you watched last year?
Hmmm….It’s Okay That’s Love? I also really became addicted to a British show called Miranda.
Movie? Hmm…Pirates? It was dumb but a fun time.
Long hair or short hair?
I have long hair more because I am too poor to have short hair. Dude–haircuts here in the city are so freaking expensive!! (Any my hair grows super fast.)
What is the headline you wish to see tomorrow in the news?
I know I should say world peace! Cure to global warming! But being me it’s more Stephanie Wins The Lottery! or Junsu Spotted Making Out With Round American Woman!
What is the view that always make you feel relaxed/happy?
I love looking at the Empire State Building. The “I can’t believe I now live here” feeling never, ever goes away.
Do you have relatives/friends in real life that share your drama love?
It took a great amount of pushing and prodding but my childhood friend Kate finally succumbed to Kdrama Fever. I swear she actually watches more than I do now. And I’m lucky enough to have met some great people because of the blog and Kdrama and I’m happy to count those people (the likes of Cherry Cordial, Molly, and Thea) friends because of it.
And now from Miss Nelly over at My Myooz blog
If you were lucky enough to win a lottery, what would you do?
Absolutely I would immediately give a good portion to my friends–do you hear that Gods of the Lottery? Do-gooder in the house! Then I would hire a personal trainer and as soon as I was super not? It’s time to visit Korea and bag me a Khottie. Ahem. Just kidding. But I do want to travel. I see pictures of far off places like Bora Bora, Machu Pichu, Prague and….Niagra Falls and get sad because I’ll never see them.
This sounds silly, but I’d love to watch Kdrama. For someone who has dedicated a good portion of her life to it? My life is sorely lacking it’s consumption. With having just moved from the sticks to NYC, trying to be healthy, writing about Kdrama, and now with my new writing project? Sitting down and watching TV gives me a bad case of the guilts.
I am a fan of Gilmore Girls. Are you? If you are, are you a Lorelai or Rory? If not, why not?
I’m…mostly a fan of Gilmore Girls. I aspire to be a Lorelai. You know, because Lorelai is awesome. And she gets to eat whatever she wants and be tiny. And of course there’s Luke…
Pick one: gold, silver or platinum. And why.
Silver all the way! Gold is yucky. And I’m allergic to it–in just one of my ears. Weirdo, party of me?
If you can choose a blogging partner, or add another blogger to your blog, who would you choose?
Well, here’s a minefield. Actually, I’d love to get a blogging partner–or guest blogger (then maybe I’d have time to watch dramas!) I always heckle Amber from Crazy Ahjummas that she needs to abandon ship and join me–but she staunchly refuses. It’s funny, there are always people I think about asking to join me but 1) then they always join other blogs (DAMN IT, moved too slow) and 2) I’m territorial and a little controlling so as much as having another person would be nice, the thought also raises the hackles. What can I say I’m a conundrum wrapped up in an enigma, coated in a cookie crust.
So the next part of the rules are that you nominate blogs and then ask them questions. But, since as mentioned I (ashamedly) don’t read other blogs, I’m going to ask you the reader some questions!
1. If you could put together your ideal OTP, who would you cast?
2) If something happened and you were only allowed to watch one Kdrama for the rest of your life, which one would you choose?
3) If you could take the place of any heroine in any drama, which one would it be?
4) How long do have you been watching Kdrama?
5) What was your first?
6) Who do you dread most going off to the military?
7) If you could be front row to any Kpop concert, which one would it be?
8) What Korean snack would you most like to try?
9) Bigbang or Super Junior?
10) If you had to chose, give up Kdrama or only watch Dr Jin, A Prince’s First Love, and Bachelor’s Vegetable Store for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
I hope to see some answers down below! (Unless you’re Cherry Cordial because I think I might make you answer these on the next podcast!)
Thank you so much for the nominations ladies–you rock–this was a lot of fun!
