What The Bum?

Casting News

No idea why this post needed to be named that, but once it came to me, IT WOULD NOT GO AWAY!

New Drama Alert! New Exciting Drama Alert? Why am I so excited for this drama? Number one: Turns out, after Padam Padam, I’m a big Kim Bum fan. Ah hellz, my dark secret? I was even a Kim Bum fan after Boys Over Flowers–he was so cool.

But it was Padam Padam which made me appreciate Kim Bum the actor. I was just (literally just) talking to someone about wondering what he was up to and wishing he would sign onto a drama I wanted to see (yeah, I have no interest in that pottery drama, sorry Kim Bum) and then blamo! Here he is. In a drama I want to see.

Number Two? It’s a drama I really want to see as it’s made by the director of last years Bad Guys. Now usually I don’t get too excited over directors or ‘production teams’ as it’s really the writers which will get me coming back for more, but in the instance of Bad Guys, I really think the director had a big hand in that dramas success. It had great camera work, a gritty style, and some killer fight scenes which are fairly rare in television. So if you tell me the director is coming back? With another crime show? Well, you have my attention. Bad-Guys

This drama called Hidden Identity also seems to have slight shades of Bad Guys, having a team of highly skilled uber police ‘aggressively’ taking on cases that can’t be solved by the regular ones. I’m hoping that by aggressively they mean that they are allowed to go wild in the streets, being just this side of legal. (Not sure why I like this in my TV when I am very anti that in real life.) Now do you see the Bad Guys similarities? I loved seeing our mad dogs go out for the crime of the week each using their own unique skill in order to get the bad guys.

Also a plus on this side is the fact that it’s going to be a tvN drama which I’m usually a fan of as they have great production value and are allowed to be a little more gritty (ahem…I’m a sucker for a sexy fight scene).

Kim Bum will be playing a character with an arm load of specialty training. Usually I’m skeptical (cranky) about attributing such skill and achievement to someone so young, but Kim Bum has this seriousness to him which allows him to play older and would make this more believable.

You know what would be the only thing better than this news? An actual second season to Bad Guys.

But I’ll take what I can get.

I’m excited! Kim Bum has always picked roles where he plays adults! Looking forward to this!

I love the roles he takes on as he doesn’t seem to be going for star making leads, but projects that really interest him.

Just proof that the Kdrama gods love us!! I even watched a mainland china drama called VLove just to see him. Only in last 5 episodes of the 40 episode drama

I hope you knew he was in the last 5 episodes going in, otherwise that is just a terrible, terrible tease.

Good call on the pottery drama. Rarely have I been so bored. It’s a shame because it could have been really interesting.

THANKS for backing me up on that. I hadn’t really heard anything, I just had a hunch it wasn’t going to be my cup of tea.
