It was announced today that everyone’s favorite father-daughter duo Haru and Tablo have decided to step down from the variety program Return of Superman.
I’ll wait here for your weeping and or wailing to subside.
Ready? Okay. Why? I loved this pair! Okay, it’s been a really long time since I’ve actually watched, but it was always comforting to know they were there, waiting for me to have a bad day and need a pick me up. It was also nice to see their random updates pop up in my social media feeds. They were what got me (and probably a lot of other people) watching the show in the first place.
Tablo has sited scheduling difficulties with the promotion of his new Epik High album–which means I have actually brought this upon you guys. I am the reason Tablo and Haru will no longer be on the show. If I hadn’t have wished so hard for Epik High to come out with new music, this wouldn’t have happened. See people? Be careful what you wish for because wishes have power.
A dark and dangerous power.
Actually, the timing is kind of interesting as it was just last week where news had come out that people were protesting how much his wife was showing up on the show (the premise being famous dads spending 48 hours alone with their kids). The filming had showed the family going on vacation to Jeju for their wedding anniversary. With Tablo’s history with angry netizens I can completely understand if that was taken into his consideration on whether to stay on the show or not. Tablo is a perfect example for how scary and frankly horrible netizens can be and I’m sure he wouldn’t want to take any chances with his family again. I’m imagining the throwing down of a newspaper in front of some manager with a “Fudge this.”
Anyway, they have already found a replacement for the duo in Uhm Tae Woong and his daughter, Uhm Ji On. Now I really like Uhm Tae Woong and he has a great history in variety, but is he enough to make me go back to the show? Probably not.
