Can you believe it’s that time again? The end of the year is creeping up. I’m reminded of the Epik High song “Time keeps tickin’, time keeps tickin’ away–“. With the end of the year comes the usual, end of the year reviews. Last year I hadn’t watched enough dramas to participate and seriously, in the words of my friend Sean “That just ain’t fittin’.” Seriously, looking at the amount of dramas I actually watch in a year is a sad, sad reflection of my time management skills.
This year I swore it would be different. This year I swore I would keep up with my dramas. I promised it was my duty as a kdrama fan, as a blogger to actually watch the dramas. And yet, here we are again at the end of the year, and my drama list is a sad, sad state.
So, it’s time to take the bull by the horns and get down to business. My plan is to watch (or cram in) as many 2014 dramas by the end of the year. You know–pretend to be a regular kdrama watcher for a while. I did this a few years ago, my “Month of Kdrama” to great success, I got to watch a lot of dramas, and, by watching for sheer numbers, I watched a lot of dramas I wouldn’t have necessarily chosen regularly.
Now it’s time to get down to choosing the dramas. Since I love spreadsheets and organization, I’m goign to look at this scientifically. First off, list all the dramas which ended at any point during 2014:
Then take out the dramas which are too long. Since this is a matter of more is better, and we only have about a month and a half left, we have to realistically remove anything over 20 episodes. I left in Glorious Day because, due to Cherry Cordials gushing, it’s pretty high on my TBWList. Here’s what we’re left with:
Now we’re left with the list of dramas I have to work with. Now, I did sit around on my laurels all year, there were some dramas that I did watch–and since I decided to do this, I’ve already started cramming. So the crossed off ones are the ones I’ve already seen to completion, or dramas where I started to watch and was all….awww hellz no (I’m looking at you Hotel King).
Ones I haven’t completed but am working on, Glorious Day (about halfway through) You Who Came From The Stars (halfway through, but I didn’t love it so I don’t know if I’m going to go back) Spring Day of My Life (4 episodes from the end, not sure if I want to keep going), and Plus Nine Boys (4 episodes in, but it caused a giant fight between Cherry Cordial and I, so I’m a little resentful towards it and am not sure if I want to go back).
Sooo….what have you seen? Is there something that I absolutely need to watch? Dramas that as a Kdrama fan, it is my responsibility to see? Something that just tickled you? Or something that you saw which you thought was just horrible and I should steer clear of?
As the time goes on, I’ll keep you updated and let you know my progress so cross your fingers for me!!
