Holy crap. I had no freaking idea just how popular Girls Generation was here in the states before going to KCON.
Popular with girls and boys alike. Laugh, I guess I should realize just because something isn’t my cup of tea, doesn’t mean it’s not going to be the same with everyone else.
The group was the headliner on the second concert, which had many, many more tickets sold than the first night (the line to get into the concert, went back out the CON, down the streetand around the corner.
When Girls Generation came on the stage, the crowd went WILD.
As I’m not really a fan, the only members I know are Sunny, who I kept taking photos of for my friend, Thea (and it took me a while to find her because last I knew she was blond.)
and Yoona who acts in all the dramas.
Yoona is, of course, Lee Seung Gi’s girlfriend. Since Lee Seung Gi was also there as a special guest, I kept wondering if they got to hang out together at all while they were here?
For some reason, I think they are a super cute couple and I just have visions of them randomly sneaking off to corners to gaze happily at each other, maybe sneaking a hand-hold.
Back to the concert! It turns out I only actually really know 2 songs of theirs, Genie, which I was super happy they played, as it always makes me think of Dream High, and that English song about bringing the boys out–which was actually Crazy for Kdrama’s very first Musical Monday.
One thing I noticed? Their matching outfits that were all blinged out, matched exactly with their blinged out nails. I’m not sure why this tickles me so much, but there it is.
While I’m not coming out of the experience a huge Girls Generation fan, I have a new-found appreciation for their popularity.
And it was so much fun watching how excited the crowds were around me to see them.
If you’re interested, here are the videos I found of their set!
One last picture–because I love the expression on Sunny’s face:
