Now I’ve been tempted to watch the original version of Fated to Love You for a while, but for some reason, have never been able to pull the trigger. I’m not sure why, I heard it’s really cute! I think a big reason is the length–I think it’s 21 episodes and the TWDramas usually come in well over an hour (sometimes up to an hour and a half per episode!!) and the production values can make me cringe–especially the sound.
So I’ve never watched. Would I watch a Kdrama version of it? Well, I’d like to say that I will, but you know me–at first its “I can’t wait!” then it moves into “Oh really, they cast her?” which becomes “Meh, maybe I’ll catch it when I’m done” and from there the drama will kind of make it onto the TBWList, but as we all know–that’s a freaking long list.
I’m intrigued with the idea of Jang Hyuk doing a comedy as most of the dramas I’ve known him to do have been more…intense. (He does seem to have the face for it.) I do enjoy the movie he did, Please Teach Me English, which was cute, but frankly a little weird watching him be goofy.
On the other end of this couple we’ve got an actress who is also currently considering, Jang Nara. Hrm. The only thing I’ve seen her in was My Love Patzzi, which I pretty much hated, mainly because of her character, not so much because of the actress. If I think back, the actress played the terrible character pretty well.
Thinking of Jang Nara’s drama list, she does seem to play a certain type of character–you know, the usual Candy types. Which seems to fit pretty well with what I know of the character in the TWDrama.
If you’re not familiar with the plot of the original drama, it’s basically this: Chaebol heir goes on a cruise, wants to have sex with his girlfriend. Virgin secretary decides to go on cruise with her boyfriend to have sex for the first time. Whoopsy daisy rooms get switched and they end up sleeping together–which of course means they get preggers. One quickie marriage later, they have to learn to live with each other.
Is it just me or does the casting seem weird for this? Don’t get me wrong. I love Jang Hyuk. He was amazeballs in Thank You. I’m okayish with Jang Nara. I just don’t see them as a pair, and I’m not really seeing them as a great fit for this drama. I could be wrong. It wouldn’t be the first time–but I’m certainly going to be keeping an suspicious eye on this drama.
Although–if anything–it’s made me more interested in finally watching the original!
