So timely and surprising considering I just spent the morning cuddled up on my couch with Yoo Seung-ho, or more specifically Operation Proposal. Not just Operation Proposal, but the exact episode where he goes back to his time in the military. This announcement is also surprising considering how young he is. Most actors or idols wait until the last possible moment to enlist, or are drafted—where the choice of timing is kind of taken from your hands.
Yoo Seung-ho announced he’s leaving after his current show, I Miss You wraps up. This is actually a pretty good strategy on his part. He’s had a pretty killer year with Operation Proposal, Arang and the Magistrate and now with I Miss You. Not only is he going out on a bang, casting agents will remember this and will clamber for him even before his release. And—even if, for some strange reason they don’t—he’s still young enough to be able to build back up to this level of fame again.
Not to mention, he’ll probably have a lot easier time blending in with the people he’ll be enlisting with, as they are all about the same age.
Anyway, Yoo Seung-ho, Fighting!
