Kdrama Hands Across Starbucks

resistance is futile

SO funny story of the Kdrama variety. So big surprise, I love Kdrama. I heart me some back-hugs, piggy back rides, wrist grabs, random nosebleeds, Kdrama Mamas, and the fact that almost every love comes in triangles. I know I’m not the only one out there who feels this way. I’ve tapped into a whole online community who has the same obsession I do. However, I also live in a small town in NH.
Rural, rural NH.

My chances of running into another Kdrama addict locally? Given all the “You’re a wierdo” looks I get when explaining my love to others, the chances were pretty slim.

Or so I thought.

It all happened this weekend. The house I’m renting is on the market so periodically I get the call from the realtor to clean up my crap and clear out for an hour. I got the call on Sunday and had the inevitable conversation with myself. One: When exactly was the last time I vacuumed and Two: What am I going to do during that time?

After some random chores, I decided to head to the coffee shop to get started on the Sungkyunkwan Scandal review. Now, being me, I grabbed my Shaken Iced Tea Lemonade and hid myself in the corner. The corner next nearest the beverage delivery counter.

So there I was tip tapping away and I look up and there are some friends I haven’t really talked to–besides the random “Hey, how are you,”–in several years. Do they watch Kdrama you ask? No. I know I ramble, but I am getting there.

Kelly and Amanda, who I was thrilled to see, invited me over to their table to enjoy our icy beverages together with Kelly’s Mom. It was then Kelly was all, “So you guys have a similar interest. You both watch Korean TV. Discuss.” Like it was some sort of exam question.

Ack! Are you telling me not only is there another Kdrama watcher in the Mt Washington Valley, but she is sitting at my very table? By the Gods of Kdrama, it’s fate!

Regina, who seems like a very nice lady, watches Kdrama on her satellite. Current stuff. Color me jealous. We managed to dominate the conversation talking about what we’ve seen, what we like, and what we want to see. And yet still, there is so much to say! Such a fun time.

Needless to say, that totally made my day.

So once again Kdrama watchers out there, we are not alone! As a matter of fact your fellow addict may be a lot closer than you think…
